Importance of Taking Care of Your Feet

What do you look for when shopping for athletic shoes? Style or Functional Comfort? Luckily, most if not all of the athletic shoe brands out there have started to combine both. The reason I wanted to talk about feet, is not because of a foot fetish. But how important it is to the rest of...

The Stretching Debate-Should You or Not?

Saw this article today about static stretching prior to working out or playing sports. http://peakcontrol.wordpress.com/2012/01/23/to-stretch-or-not-prior-to-exercise-a-systematic-review-of-the-effects-of-acute-static-stretching-on-maximal-muscle-performance/ There have been debate about this for some time now, and I think this article is pretty accurate. My normal warmup would include foam rolling and a little bit of static stretching followed by some dynamic stretching. I believe that...

Energy Drinks

We’ve all needed a little pick me up at one point,  but turning to those popular energy drinks may not be the answer. As mentioned in my previous blog about sugar, you should try to limit your sugar intake to 15g or less per day. Well if you have one energy drink, you are consuming...

A Little Sugar Never Hurt Anyone…Till Now!

Sugar is just about everywhere. Whether it’s natural or artificial, you can find it in many products in your local grocery store. I’m not a fan of sugar, so I tend to keep the consumption level low. I started doing this about 7 years ago. And since then weight management has never been an issue....

Reaching goals…One Client At A Time

Michael Kuang is the owner of Syphon Fitness. He started the business in Miami to further his passion for health and fitness.  Michael has worked with a variety of clients and helped educate about health/fitness and created effective workouts for each one.

Michael’s quest with health/fitness started in 2004, when he decided that he needed to live a more healthy and active lifestyle. He started learning as much as he could about nutrition and exercise. It was quick to see how being healthy can dramatically change his outlook on himself and his life. His hard work and dedication paid off, and he decided he wanted to help others with the journey. Michael was certified with the National Academy of Sports Medicine* in 2007, and hasn’t looked back since. Now, he has linked up with the Health & Fitness Provider Network, which will allow training his clients anywhere, anytime!

In 2010, Michael has completed his certification for Corrective Exercise, and can help with injury prevention and current injuries. The certification held from NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) is the official certification for the NBATA (National Basketball Athletic Trainers Association.

*Since 1987, the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) has been a global leader in providing evidence-based certifications and advanced credentials to health and fitness professionals.

Mission Statement

I’m looking to share my knowledge about health and fitness; it’s been a major part of my life and has shaped what my life has become. I’m constantly trying to create safe and effective programs for my clients. There is nothing better than finishing a challenging workout, it feels great! My goal for each client is to help them get the most out of each workout. Whether it’s losing/gaining weight, strength training, cardio, or if it’s just to be consistent in the gym. There is a mind and body connection when it comes to exercise and eating right, and I’d like to help achieve that.

Testimonials

“Mike has the drive, encouragement and trust to get you to your goal. He pushes you beyond what you think you can do, but makes it fun while doing it.” -Berkley L.

“No matter what your current level of fitness, Mike has a great plan to jump start your fitness goals.” -Clarissa N.

“I have been training with Mike for over a year. My strength and balance have improved tremendously. He always encourages me to do my best.” -Peggy O.

“I am, by no means, athletic.  I was the captain of the swimming team in high school and I did a little bit of running for a spirit organization, but past that, my athleticism is nil.  A few years ago, I started noticing that my pants weren’t fitting quiet as nice as they used to, so I joined a gym and got involved with their physical training program.  I was passed from trainer to trainer, until I was paired up with Mike.  The other trainers were knowledgeable, but they didn’t always pay attention to what I was doing.  Mike does.  He knows what areas I want to target the most, and he creates a workout accordingly; he knows how to correct the mistakes I make while I am lifting; but most importantly, he listens to my needs whether they are spoken or understood.  I can’t thank Mike enough for not giving up on me when I am close to giving up on myself.  Having him stand there pushes me to do the last few sets.” -Kristy P.
